Plan the repair and the finish together
Tell us how the wall or ceiling will be finished after the drywall work. If painting is also needed, include that in your request so the steps can be discussed together. Existing textures and finishes can affect the scope; a repair should be assessed against the surrounding surface rather than priced on hole size alone.
Existing damage and access
Describe what caused the damage if you know. If moisture or another ongoing problem is involved, the underlying cause needs attention before covering the area. Mention ceiling height, furniture, occupied rooms and access limitations. We can then discuss the information or on-site assessment needed to define the work.
